The Metal Muff/Top Boost distorts sound such that it is a pleasure to hear, and even at the highest levels of distortion still manages to deliver precise, contoured results. The important mids can be adjusted easily; scooping, of course, is also possible without a biteless living room sound coming out. The Top Boost switch is of assistance in this respect, and works via a narrow-band treble frequency emphasis so that the sound, even in the worst of sound storms, can still be heard.
